Developing Problem: Any suggestions?
Hello,

Ok today my son and I were developing our B+W films together. We used the same chemicals. I *think* I measured them for both of us; I may be the source of the 'problem'. My negatives turned out well but my son's didn't. I am hoping this was simply a case of too much or too little of something. Perhaps it was just not enough washing of the film or too much fixer; so please help me here.

I have scanned the film so you can how it looked coming off the spool; this was the tag end of the film and it continued through all 36 exposures with the same blotch in each. It is too consistent to be anything but a mistake. What went wrong? I have included a scan of the film and the negatives so you can see what it looks like. thanks, Thomas

What kind of tank and whose reel was on top?

Hi, It was a jobo tank single reel. so his was alone. Thanks.

The regularity of the blotches with respect to the frames makes me think that it's a light leak in the camera. And you can see that the leak leaves a streak on the film as it's pulled through the camera. When left on a frame for a while, it spreads around a bit and causes a big splotch.

That looks like a light leak. As to the source...

I do not know the Jobo system at all; but it looks as if it is a light leak of some sort.

Thanks guys. I checked my camera that he was using. It does appear to have two little holes in the shutter curtain.

Hi

I feel that it would be best if you started your own thread and ask the question again, otherwise I feel your cry for help will be lost. Good luck and Welcome to APUG.

Best

Stoo

I agree with Stoo. Start a new thread. The problem with "whites" is over development. The R09 should work. Try 1+75 or 1+85.
