If the DEA would be used analogously to how TEA is commonly used, its purpose would AFAIK be that of an activator, not as a solvent. Perhaps DEA and TEA are used in both capacities since they're also chelating agents. IDK how effectively they chelate silver in a silver halide developer application.
DEA might activate Pyrocatechol-Phenidone to make a one shot developer although phenidone/dimezone might not be stable at DEA pH.
Gainer never went there, possibly because of the hazard of mixing very hot strong alkali solvent. It is not the sort of experiment for the inexperienced.
Related to the recent pyrocat thread, I did not want to hijack it so I started this thread. I've been using Pyrocat HD from the formulary - the A and B solution mixed in water and I'm going to get my next batch from them in Glycol. I generally use a 1.5A/1.0B/175 h2o mixture, so I have quite a...
The main carrier for sulfite in c110 was diethanolamine sulfur dioxide (DESO). It is not available commercially so I make this regularly at home when I want to concoct hc110 concentrate (about as close as I can get reverse-engineering it). DESO can easily be made from diethanolamine and sulfur...
