developer and jobo 3010

Hi everyone
what difference does the number of sheets of film you develop at a time in a jobo 3010 drum matter as to the development of the negative. the drum hold 10 sheets of film and you use 500 ml of developer will the negative have different density if you develop say 6 sheets,or 4 sheets vers 8-10 sheets

I hope this is correct. I am doing this after two glasses of a nice dry white.

You just have to make sure that you have sufficient developer for each sheet. For example, Kodak says it takes 125ml of D76 1:1 (62.5 water + 62.5 stock) for each 4x5 neg. If you want to develop ten sheets of 4x5, you will need 10 times that amount, or 1250 ml. If your machine can handle that without groaning too much, you are ok.

As Doc W said make sure that you have enough active developer and at least 500mls. I have always use 500ml with XTOL and replenished XTOL and never had a problem.

hi all I must not have asked this right! what I am trying to find out is when I develop my film does it mater how many sheets of film I process at a time in my jobo 3010. will my results be different if I develop only 5 sheets vs doing 10 sheets and I am using 500 ml of developer which is enough active developer to do 10 sheets

Assuming the minimum amount of active developer is present ( as opposed to the minimum fluid quality listed on the tank) then the number of sheets will make no difference.

The only place you could get into trouble is if you are doing 10 sheets and you exhaust the developer before all the sheets are developed due to not enough developer.

I develop up to tens sheets and always use 500ml. I have never had a problem. I either could the sheets off the life of the developer or replenish as used.

If you are using at least the minimum developer per sheet, then you are ok. I don't think it matters if you use more than the minimum per sheet. I have done this and I did not notice any difference. So if you use enough developer for ten sheets but develop only five, it should not matter.
