I'm regularly using Adox MQ Borax with FP4+ and for my liking it gives the best results when used undiluted. Diluting 1+1 results in visibly more grain, which you may or may not find pleasing.
In my experience it requires a longer dev time then D76/ID11 to reach the same kind of development.
In any case, doing your own tests is advised.

Adox Borax MQ is closer to Microphen/ID-68 than D76/ID-11 but with Metol rather than phenidone it's less active, also due to a lower level of Hydroquinone 4g/l compared to ID-11 Hydroquinone 5g/l.

Just to clarify Adox Borax MQ is close to Agfa 44 which is Agfa Ansco 17, but the GAfa developer has lower Metol 1.5g/l and Hydroquinone 3.3g/litre. All these 3 developer have advantages over D76/ID-11 because they use a more optimal level of Sodium Sulphite 75-80g/l.

Adox Borax MQ also has some potassium bromide, which will somewhat restrain development.

Adox Borax MQ is really meant to be used replenished, in some cases Bromide is added as a starter when starting with fresh stock solution, Agfa 19 does the same it's identical to D76/ID-11 but with 0.5g/l KBr added as a starter.

When you replenish D76/ID-11 and mix fresh stock it's best to reason with a small amount of the previous batch. When you don't there's a slight harshness to the first films processed, not quite as sharp, grain's not quite as fine, and slightly more apparent contrast, less tonality. It's most noticeable with 35mm but can be seen 120 & LF, when I was using ID-11 commercially in deep tanks none of us liked using it until fully reasoned

Ian, does the pH of Adox MQ Borax remain the same through out it's lifetime?

BTW I like this developer on Orwo films. My concoction prepared about six months ago still works fine.

I've not checked it's pH over it's lifetime and its over 30 years since I last used it, however it should be stable until close to beginning to collapse. It's the Bromide, Iodide, etc build up that seasons it.

My estimate for Agfa 44 (Agfa Ansco 17) 1+1 and FP4+ exposed at ISO 100 is 13 - 14 min @ 20ºC. Take a test roll to be sure.

Plus-X and Agfa 44 1+1 @ 20ºC comes out nicely when I develop it for 12:30 - 13 min, so I compared the times for D-76, Plus-X and FP4+ and did some simple calculations in my head.

Ian, I read this formula Replenisher AFGA 44: Metol 2.2 gr. -Sodium sulphite An. 80 Gr. -Idroquinon 4.5 gr. -Borax 30 Gr. -Water 1 Lt- Correct? Using the stock solution (1 Lt.) to replenisher as many cc. are used for each film 120 or 4x5? Thank.

Agfa 17 - With JOBO Rotary. At slow speed.
Tmax
The problem here was maintaining the temperature at 18 degrees.
I am a lover of Agfa to death.
