I enjoy the process but give it little thought until the next roll is needed. Even then it's just tossing a fresh roll in the camera.

Depends on the camera, I enjoy the equipment just as much as the end result. For instance(s), the 8x10 is this gorgeous mahogany contraption, loading film for that portends an involvement of setting up the camera, exposing & developing & contact printing, the entire process is 100% involving, something akin to meditation. The 4x5 is a Linhof, incredibly well and precisely made, I can make exactly the same picture with any 4x5, but using that particular tool is a pleasure in itself.
The Nikons, a superb tool ready to be used. Contax II, a piece of history, as good as it got in 1936, pretty impressive today, too.
And on and on, each camera has it's own appeal, and putting film in means I'm about to have fun, on several different levels.

I savour the smell, the physical act of winding the film on, and the thrill of the unexpected results, will I be happy or disappointed? who knows? that's part of the serendipity of shooting film, and why I love it.

I am more excited taking a finished roll out of the camera than putting a new one in. I have many times put a roll in and then ended up not shooting anything so now I don't put a roll in my empty camera until I know I am about to make an exposure.

Neither! If I lived in Maine, I would, just before the sun came up, head for the ocean. There has just GOT to be a PRIZE WINNING PICTURE there somewhere. So I guess the emotion would be "anticipation"............Regards!

When I first read this thread, my thought was that I didn't feel anything. However, thinking about it more, there is a feeling.

So, to anthropomorphize this process, I feel like I am giving the camera a chance to come alive and produce nice things. I am especially happy if it's a camera that has not been used for a while.

I love the process of loading a new roll of 120 film and the thought that 'this is the one,' the film from which I get that perfect picture we all strive for. Of course, it never is.

Nothing if it is 135 film. Do you normally feel, think and else at every single breath?

But then I was loading it into 4x5, my senses told me what I was wasting my time and money.
Well, same for 120 film - "what a waste, I'm getting better results with 135 film".

I enjoy the smell. I barely thing about it, because it is so automatic with film backs. Now 4"x5" takes some time and patients because I am loading Grafmatic 45 backs.
