De Vere 5108 parts

I just received a 5108 from Ohio and on getting it in my dark room i discovered that the wire that moves the enlarger head up and down had broken and needs to be replaced. it is a thin braided wire that is located in the upper part of the enlarger and runs around the plastic pully s located there . any one delt with this before and know how to replace or fix this.

Hi Mitch. I have a 504 and had to deal with the same issue. You should contact Odyssey in the UK (odyssey_devere@btinternet.com) as they are the current De Vere service center. They have all the parts (new) for De Vere enlargers. They are super nice and helped me a great deal with mine. You need to have the manual explaining the operation as each movement wheel (head and lens stage hight) are controlled by a set of two cables and pulleys. Each cable has a specific length. They have the manual for the procedure or you can get it from http://www.khbphotografix.com in Canada. It isn't complicated.
