I saw an old Davis & Sanford Floating Tripod model A with 3-way pan head that has a huge table/plate where the camera sits on for $159. Is this price cheap, good or too much? Can it handle a horseman 8x10 LX with sironar 300/5.6 (about 25 lbs) easily? How does it compare to a Bogen 3058/3258?
thanks!, rob.

I used to have a D and S Rocket Launcher tripod with the big head and it worked fine for my 810 Deardorff and any lens on it. If it has the spring loaded column watch out as it has the ability when you release the hold down clip to either put your camera into orbit or take off your head if it is over the camera. Caveat emptor! The price would work for me.

I have 2 of them and I'd be happy to get $159 for one. So that's probably about right. It's a tripod that I trust putting the 7X17 Folmer & Schwing into a vertical taking position with.
