While in the library today, I came across a book entitled, Architecture of Silence, which features photographs by David Heald. Unbelievably gorgeous, ethereal and vivid images - all monochrome with some slight toning. The compositions are wonderful. It was a great surprise to come across such a well crafted book. The photographs are all of Cistercian Abbey's in France. The text is by a gentlemen named Terryl N Kinder, who is an expert on Abbey's. The text is also very poetic.

My guess, from the dates that many of the photographs were taken, and the format in which they are presented, that they are mostly 35mm film photos, although that is simply a guess. Could be 645, of course. On his webpage, you can clearly see that he has taken the path most traveled and is now taking digital color photos ()

Highly recommended. You can see some of the images at his website. http://www.davidhealdphotographs.com/#s=0&mi=2&pt=1&pi=10000&p=2&a=0&at=0

Received the book today, and it is a treasure. The accompanying essay looks very informative.
Heald probably used a 4X5. Well done.

It sure is! Enjoy, my friend. I went back to the library last weekend to look through it again. Wonderful. I need to just order it for myself, as well. Let me know more of what you think when you get some time to contemplate the text and images more.
