I need some expert help.

I just bought a Voigtländer lens and it got stuck in customs!!

I have been charged more than 50% in taxes which Pi#### me off..

but I just learned, that if the item is a genuine antique (100 years or more), I don't have to pay taxes at all, which U would prefer:rolleyes:

it's an EURYSCOP IV, NO.3,FROM VOIGHTLANDER & SOHN NO.61635.

so how can I "prove" this is more than 100 years old? (if so)

I looked in the Vademecum, but I am uncertain whether I read it right, when I find it to be from 1881 ca?
the lens is a 6.3, and that is not mentioned in the Vademecum.

Unfortunately I don't have the serial number/year from that brand, but I truely hope someone in here will help me...

Pretty please....

Hartmut Thiele lists 1890-1902 as sn. 39466 to 71688.

That means your lens is made before 1902, and thus more than 100 years old.

thank you all.

I hope this will help me fight the customs.

You really should have Hartmut Thiele's "Deutsche Photooptik von A-Z" for when the Vade Mecum is worthless (i.e. most German lenses)! :D

yes indeed - but where to find it?

EDIT: I think I found it on Ebay...

Tak Ole, men har lige købt en på Ebay. (samme pris så det er ok)

tak for linket - kan vise sig nyttigt i fremtiden!

Lindemanns er farlig. Masse spennende fotobøker.
