That is stating the obvious, one must be insan(e) to be in san jose......

Someone from north central PA has not much to talk about. I grew up in central Maryland and I would not go back for a million dollars. And PA is worse.

I swore I would never live in San Jose when I was stationed at Travis AFB in the mid seventies. But... 20 years later, I was unpacking moving boxes in the west part of the city and now 18 years later, I am still here. A great place to wait out the kids getting to 18 if not a bit boring weather wise...

So y'all leave San Jose alone. Now if the Sharks would just learn how to play hockey again, all would be good.

Someone once told me that if PA could get rid of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, it would be like a northern Alabama.

Okay fellas, ya know they cannot solve murders here--everyones dna is the same. The tooth brush was invented here too. If it were invented anywhere else it would be called a teeth brush. I've been in San Jose and other Cal cities, they are just like any other city. Up here in the middle of no-where it's just laid back. I can walk to a class A trout stream three blocks away, or walk a block the other direction and be hunting. My town is six blocks wide and less than one mile long. If it weren't for Philly to the east and P'burgh to the west the entire state would be rural, and we are all proud of that. I can paddle a canoe from the middle of town all the way to the Chesapeake Bay(my best friend has twice). I can drive 15 minutes and put in to a stream that will take me to the Mississippi then on to the Gulf of Mexico. It's all about the adventure here.

If it was so adventurous there, why are you all in such a hurry to get to the Mississippi River, Gulf of Mexico and Chesapeake Bay?
Now THAT'S where the action is!

The adventure is in the journey, not the destination.

Just sent a follow-up PM to Ralph, and asked him to please chime in and let us know his progress with 8.1 (Nikon). I know he has been recovering from an ailment, but it's been a month now since he told me he was preparing to take the last shot. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Finally it arrived in the mystic dimension known as the Highlands:D...............and then it never stopped raining but I did take my shot on a trip to the (sunnier) Lake District yippeeee! Mission accomplished!

The camera still managed to get snagged by the Highland spacetimewarp even after it arrived-not the first time I've had things get buried under a pile of other people's !"£$%%^% after they arrive here.........whoever's next on the list, please PM me with your address and it'll be on it's way out of here (cue X files theme)

Hooray.... we're winning... I mean our camera hasn't got lost!

Steve.

Woohoo! That's as good as --or even better than-- winning! :munch:

Time to release the hounds (or sic the dogs, whatever you prefer) on Mr. Javins?

Ralph - please - if you are listening - give us an update on the camera (8.1 / Nikon).

I'm so excited... and I just can't hide it... I'm about to lose control and I think I like it.... :whistling:

Depends. I suggest Depends.

Anyhow... the camera 8.2 will soon be on its way to the penultimate shooter. Now let's get it done.

My first car was a 1967 Ford Galaxie convertible.
It had a 289 engine in it. That was one helluva 8 cylinder powerhouse.

Mine was 68 Fiat 124 Sport Coupe. 1348 cc of 4 power! But amazing in how it would handle the corn roads of central Illinois. Kick ass power sliding.

Now lets go ahead three years to my 66 Chevy van with a 327 sm block with camelback heads.... now that was pow...

Oh... wait, sorry.. wrong thread.

I had a '64 Galaxy 500 with a factory 401 and all the only factory options available at the time-- seat belts in the front seat and an AM radio. That lead sled would cruise at 100 all day without breaking a sweat. It was given to me by the original owner, a 70+ yo lady I did some carpentry work for. She kept a journal of everything ever done to the car from day one. I traded it for a Grand Wagoneer, a Datsun pick up and $1000 cash, in retrospect I got cheated.

Just sent a message via email to Mr. Javins. We'll see how it goes. If I don't hear from him by sometime in the morning, I'll give him a ring.

My first car was a 1969 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight with a Rocket 455 (7.5 L) with 365 horsepower. It had a 127 inch wheelbase and was nearly 20 feet long! I could (SHOULD) have put a darkroom in the trunk and still had room for the spare

Oh yeah, cameras, sorry... got distracted there by the side conversations

A diamond tiara would be a better idea.

Yeah. Be careful.
Since I bought ring, I have less time for photography.
