Shoot whatever you want.. and two shots each.. 36 shots in the Portra - 16 people in each group = two shots each.

Apparently the post office close on a Saturday so my package is due to set sail Monday all the way to Japan.. Watch out Moose there's a camera on the loose

Can't wait! Hopefully the daily deluge of monsoon-like rain we've been having will let up by the time I get it. I think a few more chickens (or sushi, over here) will have to be sacrificed to make sure that happens! (but don't worry, I promise to have the camera back out there within the week, regardless of the weather)

Ok everyone this is it... the complete and utter final list. There are 16 participants in each camera group. Hpulley unfortunately I couldn't include you this time, but hopefully there will be more rounds and you'll be top of our list.

There have been changes.. The cameras will start and end in the same place and logistics have moved addresses with it.

Sile and Shawn:

Thanks for all your work. I was just wondering if you intended to have this camera travel as much as the Canucks hockey team in the regular NHL season :whistling:

Between MatthewRusbarsky and I there is about 3000 miles. Between Axle and Flatulent1 there is about 3000 miles. And between lmn and Shawn there is a further 3000 miles. Whereas Matthew Rusbarsky and Axle are fairly close, and Flatulent and I are nearly neighbours.

In other words, if you reversed the order for us Canadians, you would cut nearly 6000 miles from the route.

Um...Have you seen Camera 2? We've got to cover 4 continents, including a major backtrack from Australia to Europe to the US and back to Europe, and you're wondering about only 6000 miles? Although similarly for us, it would make for sense for the camera to go to California after Australia, then eastwards across the US, and then finally make the trip to Europe... (just a thought).

We know, camera 1 isn't exactly "Around the World", more like "Around North America". Kinda takes the romance outta the whole thing...

Any illusion that the traveling camera is about efficiency was effectively dispelled 1/2 way through the "Camera 1" thread.

I vote for more transoceanic inter-hemispheric zigzagging next time. On one version of the list the camera went from PA, to me in MD, to Florida (snooze). Even though times are tight and some of us are broke, the new version of the list has me passing the camera to BC. If find this much more satisfying. My two exposed frames may be doing the only traveling I can afford this year. I want them to go as far as possible, even if I have to turn the couch upside down for international shipping.

I wasn't expecting efficiency:whistling:

Just wondered whether the impersonation of the travelling garden gnome was intentional!

Oh and I thought it would be helpful if I could again personally ensure the camera's safe export from "The True North Strong And Free" to "The Land of the Free and Home of the Brave" (I live 10 minutes from a quiet, backwater border crossing).

I am, however, in your hands.

I'm not so sure sending the camera 100 miles would be any more efficient than 3000. I know the way my local system works and would expect the camera coming from the Isle of Wight will get to me faster than something sent the same day from Miami. I believe that's what all the poultry are for

Be careful what you write. The last time a camera was sent from the Isle of Wight, it ended up in the Bermuda Triangle.

Steve.

I kinda agree with this as it pertains to intra-U.S. packages. I've sent stuff from NY to California in the same time it takes to get from NY to NJ.

Steve.

The North American camera never even left the country to get lost. Colorado to Tennessee, and it went MIA (Missing In Action, not Miami International Airport).
I wonder if Jim Morrison and Elvis are out sailing and shooting photos of seagulls with both Cameras #6.

Do you mean Camera 7? Camera 6 made it home. Just curious - are the lost cameras confirmed lost in transit, or did the intended recipient(s) fall off the earth?

I delivered mine by camera catapult but the recipient, Black Dog, didn't catch it. Unfortunately, the same combination of me and him are teamed up again, this time with him sending the camera to me. I suggest a hot air balloon with a clockwork timed release mechanism when the wind is in the right direction.

Steve.

It was indeed both camera 7's that disappeared. cdholden, to whom I sent the North America camera 7, is still around, so presumably that recipient did not fall off the earth

Consider I was in institution for 2 years and I really enjoy it count me in..Will we get cable?

If these can get here...

of course that was around 1887 or so

Yes, I stand corrected. Those were cameras #7, not #6. Either way, Elvis and Jim are hamming it up, having a good ol' time and laughing at our expense. Sailing the Bermuda Triangle doesn't sound like a bad gig, but it doesn't pay the bills.

If I fell off the earth, no one informed me, so here I am for another round... still hopelessly looking in the PO box for a lost camera on the freak chance that it should get redirected here.
I'm sending #8 to Film Sprocket, which I think I did back on #6. We know that route is a good one. Mail traveled in that direction once. We can do it again.

Chris

and since I recently sent a camera to Tennessee - received in fine condition - we should be in pretty good shape

Damn! Another camera I didn't receive!
FWIW, I moved here from just south of the Treasure Coast (Port St Lucie) almost 6 years ago. I was there at Thanksgiving and drove back here. I can confirm that the road from FL to TN works just fine.

I totally agree that wasting mileage isn't a good plan however the cameras of round 7 were indeed lost on the shortest of journeys.. That said it is silly to send them miles out of their way for no reason. The last minute change was because of Shawns new camera addition and to facilitate him.

If someone fancies re-planning the route I'm more than open to suggestion.. Right now I'm typing this as I sit on a sun lounger beside a pool on my two week holiday.. That's why I needed to mail the camera ASAP otherwise we'd be waiting weeks again! But re-planning the list on an iPhone keypad ain't happening no matter how proud of you all I am!!

The beauty of this round is there is no physical list with the cameras - so change is easier...

Now you'll all excuse me while I cool myself down with a bottle of Portugal's finest vinho verde ..

Also - the added benefit of having two cameras is the amount of trashtalking we can do!

It seems to me that the list for the Camera 1 (the Nikon) has much better photographers on it than the list for Camera 2 (the Canon). How did this happen?

Look again. I think you got it the wrong way round!

Steve.

Camera #1 officially launched ! First shots taken this morning, and then mailed @ 1:25PM on June 14th.

On it's way to Mr. Longmore on that wonderful island east of here!

Back home before Christmas?? Dare we dream such things?

.
Thanks Mr. Rahman !

How's the weather on the western end of this Long Wonderful Island ?
I was thinking about photographing the bridges of Queens
{ Robert F. Kennedy, Throgs Neck, and The Whitestone }
But would probably get arrested, and ruin it for our team.
