I just got my 300/5.6 Symmar. Damn that is one big piece of glass. 100mm filter size right?

I got it from KEH and it was listed as Bargain. I did not expect perfection and it was better looking than I thought it would be. But, there is a bite out of the rim. Definitely dropped or banged. Things look really really good other than that and some marks on the shutter.

Should I be worried. I will have to wait to make a lens board for this to test it and that won't happen until Friday. Just kind of worried.

Don't worry. The lens is very solid, bangs on the rim rarely mean anything with these big beasts.

At least you didn't have to bake yours in the oven to get it off the lens board, like I did with mine!

and if you think the 300mm is a big piece of glass, consider the 360mm...

Symmar filter size

The original Symmar filter mounting thread is M 86 x 1

The filter thread for the Symmar S and the APO Symmar is M 105 x 1

Was it listed dinged filter ring? They normally list stuff like that and sell it for less then normal bargain grade.
