Dallmeyer No.5 W.A. Rectilinear lens flange needed.

I am in search of a vintage flange for this lens; J.H. Dallmeyer No.5 Wide Angle Rectilinear, No.47953. The thread diameter is 100.88 mm and the thread pitch is 1mm. I know I can have one machined but would like to find a vintage flange for this application.

As I know very few lens makers marked their flanges - Steinheil, Taylor Hobson, who else?
It looks Dallmeyer didn’t marked them, but maybe it’s possible to find some features, common to Dallmeyer - 5 holes for screws on bigger lens flanges, profile …
There is a lot of older flanges supply on ebay, try your luck.

Before Covid there used to be a seller at the camera fair I go to who often had a bunch of flanges, I'd buy them all, he'd do me a really good deals.

We did try setting up a flange exchange/swap on this Forum, but then I had serious family health issues, and it stalled (it was my idea). Maybe now is the time to revive it.

Great idea Ian - I have quite a collection of unused mounting rings all measured ....do you want to start a new thread?

It's a difficult task getting flanges measured accurately, made slightly complex by the mix of Imperial And Metric sizes. I've sorted my flanges into 5 plastic bags by size, so in a case like this I was able to go to the box and check quickly.

It needs some thought, some measuring, particularly of correctly paired lenses & flanges, comparison of the outside diameter of a lens thread compared to the inside diameter of a corresponding flange.

I've found it useful to meet others in a similar position, looking for flanges and swap when we have matches. I have a few flanges that initially appear to be the same size and thread using thread gauges, but in practice they aren't.

Indeed not easy at all, but I think worth the effort. I have sorted my flanges into metric and imperial - where the metric seem all German (matching German leaf shutters) and some older French. Most are imperial though - some have inscriptions.
One could make also a list of the lenses with known matching flanges, so others know where to look if they have a lens without the flange.

However not many of us seem to have thread gauges and therefore will not be able to measure their mouting rings/flanges accurately - I tried before to set up a thread at the LF forum - but there were not many contributors.

Well I think we have to keep on the practise of buying piles of rings in order to hope that some will match our lenses/shutters.
