Does anyone know the formula for D76ad as designed by Ryuji Suzuki?

I have searched online, but no luck.

Thanks in advance.

DS-1 is

Sodium sulphite (pinch)
Metol 2.0g
Ascorbic acid 5.0g
Borax 12.0g
Sodium sulphite 100g
--1 litre

That's a D76 with ascorbic acid. Is that what you're looking for?

Don, what changes to D76 does the addition of ascorbic acid result in?

Thanks

I saw a thread about ascorbic acid developers some time ago which mentioned D76ad, but it didn't give the formula. It may have been over on photo.net but I can't remember.

Ryuji was replying to a question about a D23 type developer with ascorbic acid added to it. He mentioned that D76ad gave improved results over the standard D76 and D76H (H76) formula. It was an old thread going back many years.

The formula you gave for DS-1 is one I hadn't seen before and definitely of interest to me.
Thank you for posting this formula and thanks to everyone who replied.

I found it in a web search, posted on FADU. I can't 100% verify that it's the Suzuki formula for that reason. But looking at it, it fits the bill of both D76 with ascorbic acid instead of hydroquinone and a D23 developer with added ascorbic acid (sort of).

@pentaxuser -- this DS-1 formula replaces hydroquinone in D76 with ascorbic acid + additional borax to essentially make a completely different developer that can be used in a way similar to D76.

FWIW, I'm attaching a 2001 back-and-forth online exchange I seem to have copied some time ago, in which several persons including Mr. Suzuki discuss developers, with Ryuki mentioning D76ad. Please excuse me if this is repetitive.

In the same web there is D-76Ad formula from Ryuki himself (third message). It is more or less an ascorbic acid version of D-76d and equal to DS-1.

I read that post, but I didn't see a formula for D76ad, only the formula for DS-1.

I thought D76Ad may have been a buffered borax version similar to D76ad.

Thank you for replying though. If D76AD is different from DS-1 and you find the formula for it, please post it here.
