If PE says it, I tend to listen very closely. His statements derive from a career in photographic chemistry at Kodak. What better source could there be?

:D:D:D

I will take that as a rhetorical question!

Actually, I first heard of the silver content of X-ray film way before I met PE, so my comment refers most accurately to that time... but it fit the conversation so I left the hidden ambiguity in-place. Your logic is correct however, and I do appreciate his strong presence here.

OTOH, If GOD himself were here, I would be the first to complain... I see a lot wrong with the world and I would be egar to give that "Q" a good dressing down!!

Well, I try to do the best I can.

Remember that my information on may topics is old and getting older, and that I do err. I try to correct or admit to errors whenever possible. Please don't get overconfident in my answers.

The two sided 2 g / square ft was the norm when I retired. Efforts were always under way to reduce this amount of silver either through better fluorescent screens, or faster emulsions. After all, in medical use, who wants to be exposed to high doses of X-Ray.

To hijack the thread a bit, I have 2 8x10 xray film holders surplus to my needs - any interested takers?

They do not appear feasible to pull apart to make a regular contact frame; well formed stainless steel construction. PM me if interested; they are substantial and the postage cost may be a turn off to you.

Other surplus to me weirdness about to go off to the tip includes a 12" or larger pyrex vaccuum dehydrator, and a smaller 10" cousin with a broken air evac fitting. They are quite heavy. I wondered if they would be a god pot for anyone ripening emulsions?
