D-76, Xtol, HC110...Metol?

So, I was checking the MSDS sheets and, I'm assumimng Metol is not the scientific name for this ingredient?

I'm pretty sure D-76 has it but, not sure about Xtol or HC110 or even Ilford Ilfosol S.

Metol does a number on my skin and I'm looking for an alternative.

I do wear gloves but, no matter how careful I am, it always gets me. Prolly easier to switch developers.

Dektol has Metol too?

Metol is but one of the many trade names for the chemical compound, 4-(Methylamino)phenol Sulfate. It's CAS number is: 55-55-0.

Yes, it is an ingredeient in Dektol and D-76 and many many other very good B&W developers.

But, Metol is not an ingredient in HC-110 nor it is an ingredient of XTOL.

Don't know about Ilfosol-S but, it probably does contain Metol.

There are many developers that do not use Metol but either Phenidone or Dimezone. These should not cause an allergic reaction. Check the label or the MSDS for each that seems interesting.
