D-11 developing times

i bought some d-11 today for cheap, not knowing at the time that it was discontinued. i was wondering if anyone uses it or has used it and can give me a time. the film to be developed is tri-x

Man, you're probably going to have to really dilute that to get normal negs with Tri-X. D-11 is a contrast developer. Or are you planning to do lith work, or some such.

*****You won't be disappointed, then. My old Lab Index (1954) indicates for all the various contrast films and plates, pan and ortho, 5 minutes in a tank and 4 minutes in a tray at 68 F straight. And for "less contrast" diluted 1:1.

i developed a roll a minute ago.
tmax 100, d-11 for 5 minutes, agitation every minute for 10 seconds, vinegar stop bath, and fix for about 15 minutes.
but on my negatives there was little vertical strips of like gelatin still on it. may be its the film or my handling of it.

Beats me. What color are the vertical strips? If you look at them obliquely, are they definitely physically higher than the film? Can you scan the negs and let us have a look?
Oh, and btw, I suggest you agitate five seconds on the 30, rather than 10 on the minute.

Develop 5 minutes in tank, 4 minutes in tray. D-11 is an extreme contrast developer that was designed to develop line images for photomechanical and reprographic purposes. I've used it a few times, and it is much more contrasty than D-19 and very well suited for its intended purpose. The directions say that you can dilute it 1+1 for less contrast, but I'm not sure how much less that would be.

they are clear. but i can feel them definitely. they stick out like a sore thumb.
