What is this all about? I have to jump through hurtles to try to watch anything on youtube over here behind the Great Firewall and when I tried this time it crapped out on me so...could someone summarize? I clicked on this out of curiosity and it seems that only ever grows once I can't find the answer for myself.

Go Vivitar?

Go Vivitar?

It is advertisement about point and shoot vivitar camera - for 10$ you get 2 cameras and 2 films. Main character is some older guy who is confused with digital, software, cables and stuff - you buy vivitar camera and like in good old times - you give your film, and get prints that can be shared with family over nice dinner next to fireplace .

Youtube's banned here to by the courts. I can access the website by nefarious means but the US backed regime and ISP's using US technology prevent downloads !!!!

That's the free world for you :D

At least there's one certainty when the US backs a regime it backfires on them and the country moves the wrong way

Hey that sounds like me!

I'd say clever marketing. I know several people that would buy one of these. Problem is, most of the drugstores, etc., around here have stopped processing film.

So use Target or Costco.

And you should be proud . There is nothing like feeling double weight FB print in your hand and you look and admire the final print

Much much better than: pagedown, pagedown, pagedown....and after 500 pictures you don't know anything any more...

Looking at the related videos, there is an ad for a 30 buck Kodak Camera with free shipping, which looks about the same.

Walgreens used to have a cheap P&S camera that came with free film for life. So long as you dropped the camera off at a Walgreens to have the film developed, it would be returned full of film. I thought it was pretty cool.

If only this was not a joke but a real cutting edge film camera

CVS had the same in a while...I wonder if they still have it..Come to think of it I haven't seen one in a while. Maybe the photo clerks are told to break them so that they don't have to keep feeding the customers free film  IIRC, the were just under $20

My Maxxum 4 > that and I paid 50 bucks for it.

Film business here in Florida does great because of all the dinosaurs who live here and shot it their whole lives, on the flipside some of them go digital and think their Nikon F4 is worthless now and pawn it off for peanuts, for me to snatch up a week later :D

They should advertise p&s 35mm at goodwill, lots of good deals at $3.00

The camera that is loaded in the Vivitar ad is definetely not the Vivitar branded one. Well, those people from Blue Moon had seemingly to save on production time...

That free film concept has a long history in the photographic world. But typically by one way or another it was assured that the film would only be processed by by a certain lab, thus gaining the chance to profit via the processing.

It's bad enough that corporate marketing in the U.S. has turned the web content into 100% commercial adverts, now youtube will be the same way. We Americans can't figure out why the rest of the world wants us to go away and leave them alone!! Duh.....EC

Shame on you, exploiting the old folks like that.

(Can you score me an F4 though? :D)

I saw this video and thought it an oddly clever piece of marketing, to play on their target demographic's fear of technology to sell film cameras when digital's been sold as the solution to the complication of dealing with film. I've seen other examples of this, like the company (an "old country store" concept) that sells manual typewriters on the basis of "avoiding the hassles of newfangled computers". Of course, you have to order it from their website.

This seems, well... targeted at the AARP set, a little ageist, no? And yeah... those drugstore one hour labs are slowly disappearing!!

Maybe those old farts know something the young'uns don't!
