Hello,

I would like to share a call to artists with you. The 6th Annual Curious Camera Competition is a friendly photo competition that awards prizes, trophies and includes a gallery exhibition for artists using pinhole, plastic lens, vintage or instant cameras.

(I just can't find the T&C page to see if entry is open to the whole world or just one country...)

It's just not out of character with other juried photo competitions. The nice thing about this one is that there's no minimum. I can submit one image for $10. Its sister competition, Krappy Kamera, is a flat $40 for up to five images.

A trophy, yes. And other assorted goodies, not to mention at least four rolls of Ilford film for each of the top three placings. Not too shabby -- but no one's really entering these competitions for the prizes (certainly not the trophy).

Who's getting rich on photo competitions? They're a good fundraising source to keep small galleries like these in business. (This is America, remember. The government isn't so generous to the arts over here...)
