Recently I picked up a Crown Graphic 4x5 camera. I took the top mounted rangefinder optical viewfinder front glass off to clean it. A little flat "V" shaped spring came out. Where does it go? What does it do?

I believe is goes between the bottom of the viewfinder glass and the bottom of the viewfinder housing or the chrome frame around the glass. Keeps the glass from moving around in there.

Perfect! I'll try to get some manuals. As for now, I'll try to get it back together on the dining room table before my wife gets home. Thanks everyone.

It appears rknewcomb is correct; if you look at page 26 of the service manual that gordrob linked just above (using the numbers printed on the manual pages), it *looks* like part number 18 on that page.
