For Sale Crown Graphic 3.25 x 4.25 with Ektar

I have to raise money otherwise I would not sell this Crown Graphic. I want to shoot this camera so much but I don't have film holders for this size. (I used to..) It looks to me like everything works on this camera, including the shutter release on the body. The rangefinder though I think needs work, I don't think it's right on, but maybe its the infinity stop. Anyway, I just got this camera a few months ago in a trade. It's a little dusty from his storage. The lens is the Kodak Ektar 127mm f4.7 on a Graphic shutter. Serial Number 800828.

I don't know a fair price for this camera. If I'm way off please let me know because I really need to sell this and a lot of other cameras to raise money. $175

Someone please come take this away! It needs a shooter. If you buy this camera before the weekend is over, I will include a hand knitted hat, that I made. Yes, I'm a knitter. I am very good too. No, it's a Graphic shutter. But now that you ask I'm wondering if this isn't a different incarnation of one. Didn't the Supermatic shutters have shutter speeds 1/25 to 1/400 on one side of the dial with a black triangle and on the other side with a red triangle the slower speeds and B and T? If so, this is the same thing.

A quick rundown of the most commonly supplied shutters for Graphics of this vintage:

1) "Graphex" shutters made by Wollensak were made in two basic styles a) an "X" synch that generally were used with a solenoid and b) a type that had a lever to change the flash synchronization from "M, "F-X", or "OFF". Most of the Graphex shutters had Wollensak Optar lenses installed but a few were made with Kodak Ektar lenses in a Wollensak Graphex shutter. I have an Anniversary Speed Graphic that has a Graphex Shutter and a 127mm Kodak Ektar.

2) Kodak Supermatic Shutters were either a) Supermatic (X) with x-synch only or b) Kodak Flash Supermatic Shutters had an adjustment for "M" or "F" synch. The Supermatic (X) would use a solenoid for synchronizing with flash bulbs. Most of the Kodak Supermatic Shutters that were originally sold with Speed Graphics or Crown Graphics were labelled "GRAPHIC".

Interesting information. I took the front elements off and underneath the lens flange you can clearly see "Supermatic". There is no adjustment for M or F sync that I could tell. So this is labeled as a Graphic Supermatic. Graphic on top, Supermatic on bottom.

By the way I have been shooting this lens on my 4x5 Crown since I am without a 135mm lens and the 127mm Ektar on this 3.25x4.25 is close enough to compensate for rangefinder by stopping down. It's a nice lens. Very nice actually. I'd keep it but I'd rather have a flash bracket for my 4x5 Crown and need the $$ since things are tight.
