Someone gave me an FT QL and the date code is M which is 1972. I thought Canon went to FD in 71. Did they make FL gear a little after FD appeared?

What's your serial number?

Peter Dechert wrote a book on Canon SLR cameras in the early 1990's. He reports that FT production continued until mid-1972.

I saw a FT with a serial of 809604 that had a date code of M 1 (January, 1972).

Serial # is 808499 and code inside is M125. So I guess mine is also Jan 1972. I'll probably never sell it since it was one of the last.

I own a Canon FT serial 823862 with Datecode M725 so that would be July 1972.
