Hi,
My wife wants to work on photographing her collages involving photos, cutouts and materials, and so far she hasn't had a permanent solution to the setup with the Mamiya. So the question:
What is a good way to hang this brick of a camera at a 90 degree angle in as vibration-free and solid a way as possible? Our field tripod works with it, but as a copy stand, it's on the light side and fights the setup too much.

Taller is better, as one of her current projects is poster-board sized. It looks like I will have to spring for the 110 lens somehow, to give her the correct 'neutral' view, and to avoid her using the Mamiya zoom which weighs a ton itself.

People have mentioned Durst and other brand enlargers as possible stands, so if anyone can chime in on those, please do so, both in terms of suitability and length of throw.

I have searched and found plenty of stands, none of which seem tall enough or sturdy enough for the hefty 67, so any and all advice on this is gratefully accepted.

Thanks,
Claus.

choiliefan,
Thank you! I am looking at that stand now. Do you happen to know the max work height and max payload for one of those?

Have a look at the Kaiser repro stands. There are also sturdy predecessor models that might show up used. (Not sure about their spread in the USA though.)

The Durst 606 enlarger stand can mount a camera, if you wish. The "tripod" screw is 3/8, which works for a Mamiya but may not for a smaller format camera. I am not super impressed with its planar trueness - I often have to shim my easel to match the tilt of the head. Also, the 606 enlarger has an odd attachment that turns it into a copy camera called Urixo that you could use instead of the Mamiya to digitize the negatives entirely. Though the whole process of using sheet film would be pretty onerous these days. Though you're already taking the hard road with the Mamiya instead of digital so maybe you do want to do it the hard way!

Agx,
Love Kaiser gear, but I had to keep it a bit lower financially;
Grim T,
I suggested she do the re-photo work on fine-grain 35, but...resolution is resolution.

AND the outcome is that today I drove one hour to pick up a beautiful-condition Polaroid MP4 stand (tall model) with lights, and Polaroid camera/shutter/lens still attached, for two hundred bucks.
Now I just have to order the camera adapter and we should be good to go.

Thanks for everyone offering ideas, including choilie's "winning entry", the MP4
