Hi,

I just got a lightly used Copal 1 shutter and I've managed to break the T setting in one day. It worked yesterday, but in my playing with it, it doesn't work now. The failure mode is that I set the tension with the cocker, and I release the shutter the shutter opens. So far so good. Now when I release the shutter again to close the shutter, nothing happens. The shutter does have the focus lever, so I suppose I could live with out the T, but I'd like it to work properly.

Has anyone seen this, and is there away to fix this, aside from dropping it off for service?

Thanks,

Jimmy

How lightly used is this Copal ?
It could be old oil.

You can give it a couple of tries, see what is does on B, 1 sec, 1/15 sec, 1/30 sec.
One part of the retardment is used for speeds between 1 sec and /15 only.

Let me know what happens.

Peter

All the speeds seem right from 1 to 15, and B works as I would expect. The only on that doesn't work properly is "T", it just won't close on the second press of the release.

Broken (????) spring or mis-located spring..... In your place: ask a repairman to have a look at it if you realy want to use the T-setting, otherwise just use the lens/shutter and forget about the "T" .
