Someone may know a specific formula for `REALLY` cold-tones.

MAXIM MUIRS BLUE-BLACK PAPER DEVELOPER

Sodium sulfite, anhydrous 180.0 g
Hydroquinone 53.0 g
Phenidone 2.2 g
Benzontriazole 1.5 g
Sodium Hydroxide 35 g

Water to 1 litre


Or as Ron said earlier in the thread Dektol, no bromide + benzotriazole


Kodak Developer D-72 Dektol (No Bromide)

Water (125 F or 52 C)-------------------------------------750.0 ml
Elon (Metol)-------------------------------------------------3.0 grams
Sodium Sulfite (anhydrous)--------------------------------- 45.0 grams
Hydroquinone---------------------------------------------- 12.0 grams
Sodium Carbonate (anhydrous)----------------------------- 67.5 grams
Add cold water to make------------------------------------- 1.0 liter

Benzotriazole 1% solution add to working solution, typically between 5 -30ml

This formula looks interesting, what is the recommended dilution and guide times?

1+5 to 1+20 depending how cold you want to go, around 2 mins 20°C

Never tried Ilford CoolTone but I used alot of Edwal Ultrablack which has been mentioned several times.

I liked the Edwal but its shelfl ife was not that good and it is relatively expensive. I looked for alternatives and found that Zone VI developer at 1:3 is a good cold tone developer. It is easily available from Calumet and only costs about $5 for 4 gallons of working solution. The stock solution (mixed from powder) has a good shelf life.
