When We Are Dead, We Will Have More Than Enough Time To Be Sesquipedalians.

Let's Enjoy A Wee Bit O'Silliness While We Are Here !
.

That would make a great sig line.

Gotta love a word that is its own definition.

Though I don't think being sequipedalian (in its more literal meaning) will be fun after I'm dead. I'd rather become the National Endowment for the Womanities while I can use it! Beats the hell out of having a "wee bit o' silliness"!

You've actually made the point for me. Thank you.
It appears that "badass" is a term used by those who form their opinion of reality from media stereotypes.

Edit - What is a "clueless perhaps"? Sounds almost like something from "Alice in Wonderland"...

"Except, perhaps, to the clueless" or "except to the clueless, perhaps."

There, happier now? You can take tell the story of this exchange at the weekly meeting of Pedants Are Us.

To some folks it's important to always have a well stocked pedantry.

Reality check.

He was an actor. Playing himself, playing a role.

Actors are not bad ass.

You want to see bad ass, go find a Navy Seal or a Special Forces type. They don't use stunt men.

To use another slang phrase, "well, duh." He PORTRAYED bad asses, and it's the portrayal we watch in movies. I don't care if he was an older version of Pee Wee Herman IRL.

Pedantry? Hardly. Pedantry would have been to dissect and correct your entire post. If you wish to be a smart-ass, it would help to be smart. Or at least well informed.

Watches too many Benny Hill reruns.

Hardly anyone in the UK likes Benny Hill. He seems to be very popular in the US though.

More likely a fan of Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie in Jeeves and Wooster.
