Contessamtic E rangefinder callibration

After some searching, I found a post that stated there is a hole in this model behind the film door, below the viewfinder. There is a screw that reveals a service hatch that allows access to adjust the rangefinder calibration.


I opened the service hatch and revealed a screw, and a larger screw with notches underneath it. I loosened the top screw. However I can't figure out what to do to adjust the rangefinder calibration. I seem to only have made it worse.

Is the screw with the slots eccentric? Does the edge of the outer screw seem to be thicker on one edge than the other?
If it is, I believe you may have found the culprit. It's not going to take much movement to fix it or create more of a challenge.

Slot is not eccentric on outer screw with slot...turning it doesn't seem to do anything. I tightened the main screw back up and it fixed callibration back to how it was, which was just slightly off. Apparently I need to move the whole rangefinder mechanism to achieve the same effect. Unfortunately one of the screws is stuck....I will give it a few hours sitting with some wd-40 dripped on it and take a break.

Careful with the WD40. I don't use it anywhere a camera. Clock or watch oil is the better solution
I didn't know about using it as a penetrant I'm too biased about keeping it away from the camera bits.
