Contax ii ribbon replacement.

There's not a lot of difference between the Contax and Kiev.

Anyway tested it out seems to work.

This reads like a thriller.

Now I know why it’s been hard to find someone to fix my Contax iii’s shutter!!

Maybe when I finish a few easier repair projects…maybe when the long winter evenings arrive, I’ll get the gumption to try fixing it myself.

Its actually not too hard if yours has the ribbons. Its a little bit fiddly in places, but there are plenty of tutorials to guide you through.

I'm curious where you found the ribbon material....

Haberdashery.
3mm ribbon, bought 3 types, one fitted nicely, thin, the right width, no stretch. They were all out of 3mm grosgrain.

Hello, I would like to reopen this conversation. I have the same problem with the repair as you mentioned in your first post. I don´t understand the Rick Oleson manual. I have two cameras here and already destroyed one drum by not tensioning the right way. Could you explain me how to tension the ribbons correctly? I now have the second camera here with the new ribbons attached to the upper curtain. But now what? How do I tension the drum?

I already attached the ribbons 6 times to the first camera. But the camera never worked. It seemed when I tensioned the drum that the upper curtain didnt have enought tenions but the lower drum had to much.
