Contax G1 focus questions

Hi all,

Just got myself a G1 with the 45/2. I'm running a film through it but I'm trying to figure out the focus...

1. When half pressing the shutter button, the finder changes accordingly, display shows up correctly the distance but does the lens actually focus when the shot is taken or at the same time?
2. Should I be seeing any movement inside the lens? I've been trying to figure out if the focus on the lens works and I just cannot see any movement for different distances.

Anyway, I suppose I'll find out soon enough if all the photos come out blurry!

Thanks for that. I guess what I should have asked is if there is any visible movement of the lens while focusing. Which there is, it racks in/out. And mine didn't, even in manual. But now after half a roll it does. Hmmmmm......maybe it got a bit stuck due to non-use from the previous owner...or maybe it is on the way out.

Just checked my 21mm Biogon. The front moves in and out as the camera focuses.
