I'm not trying to argue, just asking the OP to maybe use his noggin a bit more than I've personally seen, or read here so far.

Dan, that's kind of sharp, isn't it? I know Chris -- in fact,
I sold him my Nova processor. He's a brilliant photographer
who channels Helmut Newton and works entirely in film,
and who is committed to printing his own work, even
though he lives (as do all of us in NYC) in cramped space.
The guy doesn't have a lot of time to burn on this because
he's a successful photographer who actually goes out and
shoots a ton of film -- imagine that. Asking this community
for thoughts on how to fabricate a piece of equipment that
is unknown outside of our tight quarters, is hardly a concession
of a limited imagination, is it?

You think the answer is "easy peasy." It is not.

I cannot for the life of me understand why the slot setup is not the standard

Those words, cpphoto, make you both a misanthorpe and sane, sensible person. Too many things in life seem to be purposely difficult. And if you dare state that you are adjudged 'difficult'. Vertical + Rational. I do not know why that fact is so very difficult to understand. It just makes more sense. - David Lyga.

When I had my darkroom in a small bathroom I had a set of vertical trays made for 11x14 from plexiglass at a local plastic fabricator. They cost me about $200 for 6 of them. Plus the drain valves which I put into the holes the plastic fabricator tapped. They worked great and kept the developer fresh for a couple of sessions. They held 3.5 liters each. I used the Jobo clips to hold the paper. I then taped all 6 together. In hind site I think I should have made a single unit.
