Compur shutter + aperture

I was wondering how compur shutters work with aperture. I know that compur shutters are built in between the lens and are just like aperture blades. The thing that is constantly on my mind, is there an aperture blade in front or behind the leaf shutter blades or is the leaf shutter blades also the aperture? So lets say i select F8 and shutter speed to 1 second, will the blades advance to F8 and along with the shutter speed stay at 1 second until it closes? or is there an aperture behind the shutter?

The size of the aperture influences the efficiency of the shutter. So, indirectly the aperture affects the shutter speed indicated on the dial. If the aperture is directly behind or directly in front of the shutter, the effect is the same.

Just to clarify: Although most leaf shutters have separate aperture and shutter blades, some are combined. Seiko, Ilex and Bausch and Lomb all made shutters with one set of blades to do both duties.
