Compur Rapid Cocking Lever

Hi

Does anybody have experience in building your own springs for shutters? I am fixing a Compur Rapid shutter. The cocking lever is missing a tiny spring on the back. It's not the spring that pulls the leaver back, but this hair-thin spring that rotates a palet towards the centre, such that, when loading the shutter, the blads don't open, but when releasing they do.

I understand that getting that spring from another shutter might be the easiest way. But this piece seems self-buildable. Any help is much apreciated.

Piano wire. On a #00 size shutter, that spring is wire gauge #0000. 0.010mm, 0.004 inch diameter. Very fine. Look at jewelers and people working with beads for tools and techniques. It is self-buildable but I am not certain what the state of your sanity will be in the process.

I'd look for junked folders or such cameras for one with the right shutter and scavenge the part.

Which shutter is it? (for what camera, etc) I might be able to supply you with a complete cocking lever.

Thanks Dan and retina_restoration for your answers. It's for a Super Ikonta 532/16. From the serial number of the shutter, I deduce that it was built in 1937. The speed settings are: B, 1, 2, ..., 400. It carries a Carl Zeiss Jena, Tessar 1:2,8 f=8cm lens.
