I just won one of these things on eBay and now I want to find out what I won.

Here is the auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7541745736

I bid on it because we need some lenses at the school and it was too rediculously cheap to pass up. I hear that they are Congo lenses, but I can't find anything much on this particular lens. It is a 180mm f/3.6 and looks to be from the 60s of thereabouts and it comes in a silver Seiko shutter.

Does anyone know about coverage on these things and whether they are at least decent?

Thanks!

Paul.

Ask Yamasaki Optical if they made it. Contact information, and more, can be found starting here: http://www.cosmonet.org/congo/index_e.html

They currently offer a 180/6.8 tessar type. A good example should be very good.

If the lens is a disaster, well, you got a #1 at a good price even with a CLA.

Way to go Paul.... a good, faintly modern Tessar... covers 5x7. Great for 4x5. Take the shutter to Ray and get the dried lube washed out. Have fun !

Who is this Ray? Our local repair guy is named Ray, but I have no idea why you would know him (althought it is a small world ) I was considering sending it to Carol at Flutot's, but taking it to our local shop might make more sense to avoid shipping charges.
