Several sources indicate it can be done very successfully, but am not sure about possible variations in age/threads of G-Clarons. Presuming they were always symmetrical in construction. What interests me is combining elements/cells from 210mm and 150mm lenses. The resulting focal length should be somewhere close to 165mm, which is what I need. Would be used for 9x-10x prints from 4x5. Any first-hand info is greatly appreciated.

The 150 would be from a 0 shutter and the 210 from a 1 shutter. That's not going to work. Jim Galli wrote on the LFPF a few years ago about combining elements from Copal 1 shuttered GClarons. You might look there. For a 165, I use an Angulon. It's one of my favorite lenses on 5x7 and 4x10.

you have probably seen these threads on apug and the lf forum but they should help ( i hope ) you
figure out what cells might be useful ...
you can also google "casket set" + plasmat lens design ( or something similar ) to see more "stuff" on the subject

Hey, thanks for those links, lot of great info there. I'm leaning more towards modern (post-1982) G-Clarons. It would be used only for enlarging work, not in a shutter.
