Hi there, I have a Scanmate Scanview 5000 drum scanner with its ColorQuartet software running on mac OS9 I have hooked up at the moment with SCSI as per the old days!
I have two questions....

1) whats the best way to get the best results from scanning b+w negatives....as I see it I have two options.....use the 'Universal' profile in the programme (the others yield really bad conversions) OR scan as if it were a transparency and then do an invert greyscale.....

2) how the hell do you create a profile for a particular film (again for b+w films such as T-Max 100)

Thanks so much....

Bad idea. You'll see it after few scans...

OR scan as if it were a transparency and then do an invert greyscale.....

In fact - its the only way, developers included in CQ are USELESS. IMHO, of course

Waste of time IMHO  Scan as positive, then invert in Photoshop.

You'll find more Scanmate users on the Yahoo ScanHi-End group. You perhaps stand a somewhat better chance of getting your CQ specific questions answered there.
