Color test question??

When taking a photograph of several brightly colored items, (box of crayons etc.) for a color test does the background color effect the results?
Should the background be black or white?

It will not change the colour rendition of each individual item but may affect (not effect*) your meter reading depending upon your method.

It will subjectively change your interpretation of the image.

Background color can also affect reflected light.

You should choose gray, black or white. Gray is preferred IIRC.
