What is the proper color of Pyrocat MC solution A when mixed in glycol? My new bottle from the Formulary has a brown color. Seemed to work OK. My old Pyrocat HD (non-glycol) solution A is clear. I suppose I've always associated brown developers with problems.

Your color sounds normal, at least compared to my experience.

Mine is light brown and home mixed, almost a year old and has not changed during that year. Normal i would say.

I mixed my liter of Pyrocat MC from scratch (Propylene Glycol, plus a little Triethanolamine and water, etc., etc.) It's reddish brown and works great.

Brown or reddish brown seems to be the normal color of Pyrocat-MC mixed in glycol. Pyrocat-HD in glycol is clear or slightly yellowish.
