Hi,
I'm trying to help a friend out...
He gave me a roll of film to process that has everything wrong with it. 🤪
It was torn out of the cassette, rolled up in a Tri-X film can, and the film was folded over as if the rewind knob was turned the wrong way.
Aaaaand....it's color neg, NOT Tri-X.
I found this out after I (amazingly) got it on the stainless steel reel and in the tank.
I'm not set up for C-41 processing.
I will be trying my best to get 'something' out of this mess for my friend, but need a starting point 'Best Guess' time/temperature/dilution for developing this mess in Rodinal.
What say you, Panel of Experts?
Somebody has to have done this before...
Thanks!

Do you happen to know what ISO film it is? You could find a b&w film with the same iso (or close to it) & use that dev time.

I had shot a few rolls of Kodak 50D & developed it in Legacy Pro L110 (was using the last few ml of the bottle) & fixed it in Photographers Formulary TF5. I used Ilford Pan F+ time in Dilution E (1:47) & I did get images out of it.

Unless the film is very old, any lab that develops it C41 will get better results than you will with Rodinal. Scans can always be converted to b&w.

The film was an old version of Fujicolor 200...since the film was out of the cassette, I suspect it is light-struck, in addition to all its other problems.
Not worth sending out to a lab.
Neither my friend nor I have much expectation of success from this, and whatever 'might' be on the film is non-critical...
I will roll the dice and go for it, extrapolating from @Disconnekt 's information.
Thanks!

Very helpful, thank you!

I recently did the same with a roll of Kodak Gold 200 of unknown vintage. Soaked in plain water for 5 mins, then Rodinal 1+25 @20° for 12 mins. It worked.
