I was searching the web for a CD-3 source and came across this:
https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Color-developing-agent-cas-25646-71_60359638194.html

25kg (yes KILOgrams!) of CD-3 for $100 from China.

That is a lot of CD-3!

Anyone ever try purchasing CD-3 (or 4) from China?
If stored properly, how long would CD-3 last?

Does anyone know of any current suppliers of CD-3 in the U.S. I could order from?

The problem of alibaba is that it is more
a b2b platform.
You want to buy 2500 IPhone like cheap
cellphones - call alibaba they find a company in china for you with imediate reply.
Best price they offer is to 5000 units.
So it is with chems. You get very cheap prices but the shipping ends in the boarder of the country of destination.

Offcials will next visit you sunday mornig.

Because you can buy min. 100kg.
Best price is with 5000kg.

Alibaba should be monitored best from homeland security at this time.

And nowbody will belive you.

"Darkroom work ? - you mentioned it twice,
come in tell us the true - it will be easyer to you after doing it - help yourself"
They will tell you :cry::cry::cry::cry:....

with regards

I do believe you are reading that wrong. I read it as per kilogram with 100 kilos as the minimum you can buy.

If you are curious about chinese chems, google chinese Amidol.

If you click on start order it brings you to a new page where the start amount is 25kg and the starting "bid" is $100.00.

The Kodak Ektacolour RA4 colour paper developer is already made in China, so there is nothing new.

But then the 100Kg would not last you for the time it took to use it up at the rate of about 5g/l of developer. You could never use it up by the time it went bad.

PE, quite true. However, artcraft sells CD-3 at what amounts to $220.00/kg. So, I could buy 25kg at $100, keep 1kg for myself (enough to make 200L of developer) and either sell or give away the rest and I'm still ahead of the game. (I'm not sure if I would need a special license to sell photo chems., so that might be a kink in my plans to save a few bucks.)

I actually do not plan to do any of this, but was just curious if anyone has tried and how it worked out. I suspect it's not as easy as a purchase on Amazon and that there are many logistical issues to be worked out that would probably raise the cost closer to artcraft's price. Not to mention I have no idea of the quality of the chemicals I would get.

Reselling has been done, even here through APUG, but not for a while though. That would work, but the market is probably quite small and that is the reason that there are not many sources for it nor is it inexpensive any longer.

It says clearly 100$/kg at the product page.
At the order page it says 100$/unit.
