I found something rather interesting but I don't know why. First I measure a negative with a densitometer and then put it in the negative carrier and measure it with various color analyzer. The analyzers would yield a higher reading that that of the densitometer. At first I think it's just that the analyzers weren't accurate (or the densitometer). However, when I measure the same piece of film with an empty negative carrier and putting the film on top of the analyzer probe I would have the lower reading which agrees with the densitometer. Now I wonder why there would be a difference in the reading whether the negative is in the carrier or it's just laying on top of the probe?
