Coated Rangefinder Glass

Will soapy water made with dish detergent harm the coating on the 45 degree glass in a rangefinder?

I would not use that. I would probably use 99% propan-2-ol.

I used 70% Isopropyl before on the glass in my Taron III and the coating started to fade away along the top so I stopped and walked away from it until it dried.... Seems to be ok. I don't want anything like that to happen again...

warm water won't do the trick?

^^Certainly it will. Use a dishwashing detergent if you will. It certainly won't hurt anything in spite of some other opinions.
