Basically same reason T grain films take longer, Kodak uses similar technology to manufacture TriX even though it is traditional grain emulsion.

Higher iodide containing emulsions also deplete fixers faster than conventional films.

I hadn't noticed TX taking longer to fix than HP5+, but I sure noticed a difference with TMax films...did not know the iodide thing.

I do not like that tablet based grain so sticking to tradition grains has the added benefit of shorter fixing times and not worrying about the pink stain.

What does the higher Iodide level in Kodak films contribute compared to the lower levels in Ilford films?

Thanks

Various things eg

(there was a url link here which no longer exists)

Tx is finer grained but needs more fixing & may have a more difficult toe, YMMV, since I fix by inspection I miss out on some possible problems.
