Many of us acquire old, used cameras. Then we have to take care of what resulted from either negligence or rather just from time urging ist toll.
 
It is a lot simpler removing the screen and replacing the foam before it degenerates.[/QUOTE
On many of the older cameras you cannot remove the focusing screen without some serious disassembly The ammonia works great it remove smuges due to deteriorated foam from the bottom of the screen. One of the instructors at National Camera Repair school used to use a duck feather to remove small specks .
 
Disregard post #24. I was thinking the screen was off a LF camera and the Fresnel could be separated from the GG.
