Cleaning Nova processor

Is there a trick or special solution to clean the Nova slot processors? I've had mine for about a dozen years and use a very thin bottle brush, but that doesn't seem to get all the crud out. Suggestions? Thanks,

Nova sells a special cleaner called "Tarbuster" which works well. If you get it then use the gloves and facemask that comes with it. Household bleach diluted at about 10:1 works as well. You just need to be patient with it. Leave it in the slots for several days and each day try the bottle brush. You'll soom know if the crud is lifting. If it isn't then give it another 24 hrs and eventually decrease the dilution.

I had very bad and stubborn fixer stains but eventually they lifted with no harm to the processor

I'd second the bleach option. Just make sure you rinse out thoroughly afterwards.

Haven't had any problems with chemical stain build-up yet. I've been using one for a year now. Not with fixer until the past few weeks. This was done in a separate tray. I think its because I drain the slots completely from time to time and give each slot one or two flushes with clean water. Maybe do this more often than the 3 month duration recommended. Have large bottles at hand to store the chemistry while cleaning then replace it.

For black and white chemical residues, I use Steradent (denture cleaner). It's available in various strengths and powder as well as tablets. I have used both: I just buy whichever seems the strongest per dollar. Leave it in overnight. A decent long bottle brush still helps.

Not sure you'd ever need to. After a long time some algae might form but this is preventable with the addition of "stuff"( I don't know what) in very small quantities that prevents algae forming.

Alternatively drain the slots of all chemicals and then pour the water out of the slots or syphon it out

I used to clean mine using Polident or similar denture cleaning tablets. Just fill the slot with cool water and add a couple of the tablets, then let soak over night. If the crud is really built up it may take a couple of cleanings to get it all out. A bottle brush defintly helps.

Adding bleach to the water jacket should prevent algae. It works for me. You don't need much. I haven't changed the water for two or more years. Alex

TC-1 does it fine and it's quick, on the slots, not in the water jacket.
