I have been using pre-packaged wipes designed for cleaning computer screens to clean my glass lens carriers in the darkroom. Last night, as I noticed what looked like a film of residue on the AN glass, I wondered what was in those wipes, and if I shouldn't be using something else - and who better to ask than the overly specialized crowd in here (I was listening to Brooks Jensens podcast in which he mentions APUG while in the darkroom .

Any opinions?

I wouldn't be surprised if it was an anti-static chemical.

I just use Windex (any glass cleaner would do) - just make sure you let it dry completely before using it :D

Try Invisible Glass

I have the same problem—only with the plain glass in my glass carrier. I've tried windex, including the so-called streak-free sort, and ended up with a haze on the glass. A recent search on photo.net turned up a suggestion for Invisible Glass, which is supposed to be widely available in auto parts stores (I found it in Kmart). I tried it out yesterday and it looks like it may have done the trick. I'll reserve final judgment until I can examine the glass in the dark under the enlarger light, the acid test.

I use a few drops of Dawn dish washing liquid, hot water, and my bare hands. Then carefully dry with a clean cotton cloth and blow away any dust specs with compressed air.
