I finally scored on a Graflarger back for my 4x5 Crown Graphic.

Engaging in rampant consumerism and spending my gift cards and other things, I have coming in a darkcloth for the 4x5, a Combi-plan developing tank, a bigger changing bag, and Beyond The Zone System by Phil Davis. I'm doing my part to stimulate the economy.

I was given a Konica S2 and a Retina 1a with matching Kodak accessory shoe-mount rangefinder and (I think) close-up lens set. The leather and paint on the Retina are pretty tatty, but the lens appears to be in perfect condition, as is the focusing mechanism and shutter. And a really strange slide projector which only handles one slide at a time (either that, or it's missing part of the loader). Oh, and a REALLY wierd Bell & Howell/Canon 1/2 frame self-winding thingamabob of a camera.

Three books also joined the shelves- The American Tintype, the George Berkhofer wet-plate collodion manual, and a coffee-table book about Matthew Brady.

Nothing film related, did get a 70-200mm lens for the Canon 300D though, just at the time when I am deciding to largely go back to film shooting.... Actually the plan is to use the d*****l for colour and film for B&W work, considering that 90% of my photography is B&W......

Good morning;

What came for Christmas? Santa was very nice this year. Four lenses. And I understand that there is another Minolta X-700 body and some lenses on the way.

An older Vivitar 85-205 mm f 3.8 Zoom lens in Minolta SR/MC mount. A Vivitar SP 105 mm f 2.5 Tele Macro lens in Minolta SR/MC/MD mount. A Tamron Adaptall-2 Model 52B 90 mm f 2.5 Tele Macro lens. A Nikkor-S Auto 55 mm f 1.2 for the F2 and night sky photography.

The Macro lenses join a Vivitar SP 90 mm f 2.5 Macro lens that I have been using for illustrations of parts, connectors, adapters, and other things for PowerPoint presentations.

The Vivitar Zoom lens joins a Minolta manual focus 24-50 mm Zoom lens and is part of my first foray into the field of zoom lenses for my 35 mm film cameras.

Yes, it was a very good year.

I am an old film guy, but recently was given a new Canon SX10 IS. My wife got me a Wein Safe Sync so I could use my Nikon flashes with it. Then after Christmas she said go order the Canon 220EX flash from B&H. Did I tell you how wonderful she is?
Oh, I almost forgot my son gave me 2 Ansel Adams books.

I got a new lens for christmas, a Zeiss Distagon 35mm 1/2,8 for Contax C/Y and HCBs 'Scrapbook'

Well, the wife bought me a new camera for Christmas. What a gal. It's digital, though -- an EOS Rebel XS (1000D) kit with the 18-55 IS lens. Cool little camera. This is my first decent digicam, and it had rather the opposite effect on me. For the first time in quite a while, after playing around with the XS some, I began digging out all my old 35mm gear and going through it all, organizing it, replacing batteries, etc. Just loaded film into my trusty old Nikon F2 and plan to head out later today or maybe tomorrow to shoot a few rolls. It likely wouldn't have happened if the EOS hadn't come into my life. Go figure.

Best,

Michael

Since you did not actually specify which Christmas...Yes. A Kodak Brownie Starmite II in 1963.
This year I got 9 boxes of AG-1 bulbs for the Brownie, (yes, I still have it). I'm looking forward to seeing what I got on the 2 rolls of Efke I shot with it Christmas week.

Since you did not actually specify which Christmas...Yes.

Christmas 1956 or 57 a Kodak Hawkeye Kit. Camera, flash, flash bulbs, 2 rolls film ( I think) and a one page instruction manual. Served me until 1962.
