YES 12 monkeys was based on chris marker’s la jettee ( the film jtk linked to ). La jettee is fantastic.

One of my favorites too - of all time. Did you all know that Hélène Châtelain (the beautiful girl) perished in April from Covid? Sad that. Thanks for the posting. It was nice to look back upon that film and that director.

Yeah, i thought 12 was much better than most movies of that genre..... Sci-Fi, Horror, Fantasy, Mystery.?
Not sure what pigeon hole it fits into.
12 was certainly a well done movie. Not something you see everyday like........ Star Wars-12, Aliens-7, Diehrad-53, Super Man-28, Etc etc etc

Very interesting work. Has some of the character of Fantastic Planet (though quite different in technique). Maybe it is the 1960s French thing.
