Has anyone here been to this place in south eastern Arizona? I'm planning to spend a few days there this winter.

Been there when I resided in AZ. Interesting but not terribly photogenic. One visit was enough but YMMV.

I don't think I'd agree with Fred on this... The Chiricahua National Monument has some quite photogenic locations that are formed by rock formations described as "A Wonderland of Rocks" on the National Park Service website. You can Google the monument and see if you agree (it may be in the eye of the beholder).

If you travel to the Monument you should also plan to visit the Fort Bowie National Historic Site which is in the area and is an interesting hike. I'd also suggest a visit to Portal on the East side of the Chiriicahua Mountains, it's a major birding site in Southeast Arizona, an area that is quite famous for birders.

Finally, you're not that far away from Bisbee, which is a very nice location for a visit with many photographic opportunities. There's also many good choices for lodging in Bisbee (the Copper Queen Hotel is a frequent choice) and some very good restaurants. One of my favorites, recently discovered, is Santiago's Restaurant - a real gem!

I've lived in Southeastern Arizona since 1978, it's really a very photographic and historically rich area!
