Jim,
I am still interested in purchasing an 11x14 from you. I am just waiting till I see a prototype camera arise, or at leats some pictures to show that you have finished one already.
It seems as thought you been working on these for a very long time, and people were promised cameras nearly a year ago, so I am going to wait till I see some cameras being sent out before sending money okay

thanks! Post an update on how things are coming along.

From past post history, if I recall correctly, Jim G and Aggie are at the head of the line for 11x14 and Jorge for 12 x 20, so we will probably get 1st reports from them.

I talked to Jim two night ago. He now has the film holder design worked out. It should be very soon. He has my new address, and since Dave Wooten will be about 90 minutes from me, I suspect i will be yelling for him to help me figure out the camera.

Update:

I have posted 4 images in the technical gallery of the current prototype/production 11x14. I will have some 12x20 images sometime next week and possibly 16x20 if the bellows arrives.

I tried to post images here but for some reason nothing would upload to the thread.

Film holder design is complete and workable for all formats.

Currently with field tests I have been having some issues with binding of the focus and movement of the rear standard. I will be going back to a former bed design that provides the kind of movement I desire but unfortunately adds about 1.5 -2 lbs to the overall weight.

That will take about 2 weeks to finish up.

Because of the numerous delays and now change in the weight of the camera I will be contacting individuals who have paid deposits (or more in one case) to see if they want a refund untill everything is finalized.

I do not want to send out cameras untill I feel they are as good as I can make them and I don't want to have a reputation of holding people's money with out producing results.

Any changes in the design will not effect the price that has been quoted to individuals up to this point. If people go ahead with cameras, I will honor what we discussed.

Thanks for everyones interest, encouragement and patience.

Thanks for the update, Jim. Looks like it will be a very lightweight camera.

Jim, I hope I am still on the list to purchase an 11x14 camera, because I am still interested. I'm waiting till you get all the little kinks and bugs out before sending you over a deposit, so I hope thats okay. Seems like things are coming along nicely, and I look foward to seeing the finish product.

Jim

congratulations on getting this far......as they say seeing is believing!

I've been following your progress from the original post as I was keenly interested in purchasing a custom size. Well time passed by and bought a new camera elsewhere which I'm very happy with. I'm still interested in a custom odd size camera but frankly I see structural issues with your design that would make the camera for me, impossible to work with.

Now everyone on Apug can blast me for that bit of negative feedback but that is my honest opinion. Remember too, everyones needs are different and some here may find your cameras quite adequate for their purposes.

Have you seen how a Sinar P goes together? I thought your concept may have been similar with some of the weight removed. Anyway good luck with the venture.

cheers
Clayton
