I think you're reading way too much into offhand generalisations.
i posted this thread not to dwell on generalizations but to gain an understanding from photochemistry experts
and see if in the fact metol free developers are might be more forgiving to film, and if it might be more difficult
to achieve blacks with metol free print developers.
i'm no expert and when it comes to photochemistry i don't have a clue.
i am sure down the road there someone who is having difficulty getting
good negatives because of beginner's bad luck processing and printing, and they might have an easier time if they used
a film and print developer that more forgiving and print that didn't make them wrestle with contrast issues.
